Frequently Asked
Questions
The part number on my tooth is worn away - how do I identify the reference?
Measure what is left of the worn tooth and photograph it with the bucket: overall length and width, its position along the lip, and a close view of the pin or retainer. The machine model and any readable number on the adapter also help, because the adapter wears more slowly than the tooth. These details are compared with the listed references so the closest match can be proposed; if nothing matches, they are enough to start a drawing-based replacement.
Do the teeth come with pins and retainers?
The catalog lists teeth and adapters as separate references, and a pin or retainer is not included unless it is stated in the quotation. State which retention system your machine uses - side pin, top pin or diagonal pin - and whether a pin, retainer or fastening set is needed with each tooth. A failed pin or retainer is a common reason a tooth is lost during work, so the pin hole and retainer detail are confirmed against your existing part before the order is released.
My replacement tooth fits loosely on the adapter - is the tooth wrong or is the adapter worn?
A loose tooth can come from the tooth, the adapter nose, the pin or the retainer, so the whole connection is reviewed rather than the tooth alone. Send a photograph of the adapter nose, the mounting area and the worn tooth, plus the part number if it is still readable. Where the nose is rounded, shortened or visibly worn, or where a new tooth still moves with a correct pin fitted, the adapter is quoted together with the tooth instead of being replaced later.
Are these original CAT / Komatsu parts?
These are catalog references identified by the source model or brand label; they are not parts supplied by the equipment manufacturers. Brand names and logos on this page identify the source reference of each entry and do not imply affiliation, authorization or endorsement. Fit is confirmed from your own part number and connection details - send the adapter part number or a photograph of the nose with the tooth fitted so the connection can be compared.
Which profile should I order - rock, sharp/tiger or standard?
Match the profile to the material being dug rather than to the machine size. Rock profiles are reinforced for abrasive, compacted or broken material; sharp and tiger profiles use a narrow point for tighter penetration in compacted or frozen ground; standard profiles suit general digging. Tell us the material handled, the machine class and whether the current teeth wear gradually or break, and a profile can be recommended from the listed references.
What material and hardness will the teeth be made to, and can it be verified?
Material grade, heat treatment and hardness are defined per part, because hardness and toughness have to be balanced for the working condition - a tooth that is too hard can break under impact, and one that is too soft wears quickly. The requirement is agreed during technical review and can be supported with material and heat-treatment records for the confirmed inspection plan. Describe how your current teeth fail - worn away, cracked at the root or lost - together with the material being dug, so the specification can be proposed on that basis.
