01 / COMPLETE SYSTEM OVERVIEW

Connect shell cells and production sections around the mold flow.

Shell moulding is not reduced to a green sand mixer, molding and shakeout loop. Resin-coated sand, heated tooling, shell halves, assembly and downstream mold handling are shown as related sections with cycle and buffer interfaces.

Shell half production can be cell-based. Pattern heating, sand contact, shell formation, loose-sand removal, curing and stripping may repeat through a section before shell halves are buffered and assembled. Excess sand collection or return remains project-dependent and is not presented as a green sand return plant.

02 / SHELL MOULDING PRODUCTION SECTIONS

Build the line around the shell half and mold handoffs.

Each section has a defined input, output, equipment group and configuration boundary. One section, several cells or a complete system can be discussed from the same process logic.

03 / OPTIONAL MOLD INTERFACES

Keep core and mold support visible without making them mandatory.

Core setting and external mold support depend on casting geometry and mold design. They are shown as optional interfaces so the page remains accurate across different shell moulding projects.

01 / OPTIONAL

Core Making / Setting

Optional — depends on casting geometryCore equipment may be supplied within the project or received from another process. The line configuration should show the interface, handling and setting fixture without assuming that every shell project makes its own cores.

  • Core Making Machine
  • Core Shooter
  • Core Handling
  • Core Setting Fixture
02 / OPTIONAL

Mold Support / Backing

Optional — if required by the casting and mold designSome assembled shell molds may need external support, flask, backing or clamping. This is a project-dependent interface, not a fixed shell moulding step.

  • External Support
  • Flask / Backing
  • Clamping Arrangement
  • Mold Handling Interface

05 / POURING & COOLING

Pouring & Cooling

The assembled shell mold enters the pouring route, receives molten metal and remains in a controlled cooling handoff before shell knockout. Final equipment and handling depend on the project scope.

05 / DOWNSTREAM SECTION

Pouring & Cooling in the system

Role in the lineThe assembled shell mold enters the pouring route, receives molten metal and remains in a controlled cooling handoff before shell knockout. Final equipment and handling depend on the project scope.

Possible equipment

07 / CORE EQUIPMENT

Start with the equipment that defines each shell section interface.

Representative equipment groups frame a line discussion. Feature tags describe the role in the system and do not imply fixed specifications, machine count or capacity.

08 / LINE CONFIGURATION OPTIONS

Choose a supply scope that fits the shell project stage.

Supply can begin with one machine, a connected section or a complete system. Automation and handling remain configured by process section and project requirement.

01 / SUPPLY SCOPE

Single Machine Supply

Replace a shell molding machine, add curing capacity or upgrade one handling point.

  • Manual Handling
  • Section interface

Start from the existing machine interface, tooling status and the specific stage that needs to change.

Discuss This Scope
02 / SUPPLY SCOPE

Section Solution

Supply Sand Handling, Shell Molding, Curing / Stripping, Shell Assembly, Core, Pouring or Knockout as a connected section.

  • Manual Handling
  • Semi-automatic
  • Automated Shell Handling

Define material handoffs, controls and boundaries around one coherent production section.

09 / PROJECT INPUTS

Configure the shell system from the information available.

Project inputs become the basis for shell machine arrangement, sand handling, heating, curing, shell handling, assembly, downstream interfaces, automation and layout.
