CATEGORY OVERVIEW

What Are Loader Center Teeth?

Center teeth are the positions between the corners of a loader bucket, mounted along the base edge in front of the cutting edge. They carry the bulk of the digging and carrying load and, because a wheel loader also levels and back-drags with the bucket, they usually wear on the underside before the point is reached. This category lists center-position references identified by source machine or brand label, in standard and rock forms. The photographs show tooth form only; the number of positions, the holder the tooth sits on and the retaining detail must be confirmed from your own bucket before ordering. Count the positions on your bucket, note which are center and which are corner, and send the machine model with a photograph of the bucket front so the arrangement can be checked.

SELECTION GUIDE

How to Select the Right Part

Four steps are usually enough to confirm a replacement reference.

  1. Identify equipment brand

Start from the machine make and model shown on the machine plate.

  2. Confirm machine model

Match the model and, where possible, the bucket arrangement.

  3. Check the existing part number

Read the reference from the worn part or from the parts book.

  4. Send photo or drawing if unsure

Provide photographs or measurements so the part can be reviewed.

Frequently Asked
Questions

How many center positions does a loader bucket have?

It depends on the bucket width and on the arrangement the machine builder specified, and those positions are already defined by the holes or bases on your base edge. The practical way to order is to count what you have: the center teeth, the two corner positions and any empty mounting points, then send the total with the machine model and a photograph of the bucket front. Numbers that appear in the catalog names are source reference labels and do not tell you how many positions a bucket takes.

Why do the center teeth wear on the underside before the point?

A wheel loader does more with the bucket than dig: it carries a full load, levels and back-drags with the teeth trailing on the ground. Those movements hold the underside of the tooth against the material for longer than the point is held there, so underside wear is normal on a loader rather than a sign of a wrong tooth. It is also why a tooth with more material below the wear line keeps its profile longer. Photograph a worn tooth from underneath as well as from the side so the wear plane is visible.

Can rock form teeth be fitted in the center positions?

Yes, where the same holder and retaining detail accept the form. A rock form carries extra material and suits abrasive, compacted or broken ground, but a heavier tooth needs more breakout force and penetrates soft material less easily, so a full set of rock forms through the center can slow loading where the ground was never the problem. If the center teeth wear away without breaking, the rock form is worth reviewing; if they break or come off, the form is not the cause and the holder and retaining system are checked first.

The center teeth have started to move on the holder - is the tooth or the holder at fault?

A loose tooth can come from the tooth, the holder nose, the retaining pin or bolt, or the way the holder is mounted, so the whole connection is reviewed rather than the tooth alone. An under-tightened bolt-on holder moves on the edge and wears its own mounting faces, which is easily misread as a worn tooth. Send a photograph of the holder nose with the tooth removed; where the nose is rounded, shortened or a new tooth still moves with a correct fastener fitted, the holder is quoted together with the tooth.

What do the numbers in the reference names mean - 19, 30, 50, 1967?

They preserve the reference labels of the source catalog an entry was collected from. They are not dimensions, not a machine class and not a universal part number, and they should not be converted into a size. Identify your part from the number stamped on the existing tooth, from a dimensioned drawing, or by measuring the worn part, and send the machine model as well so the position on the bucket can be matched rather than only the tooth.

Can center teeth be supplied to a drawing, with a specified material?

Yes. Send the drawing or a sample together with material, hardness and quantity requirements, and geometry, casting route and inspection plan are confirmed during technical review. Where a hardness or impact requirement applies it is recorded so it can be verified on the delivered parts. Describe how the current teeth fail - worn away, cracked at the root or lost - because the failure mode is what sets the balance between hardness and toughness for the part.
