CATEGORY OVERVIEW

What Are Cone Crusher Wear Parts?

A cone crusher crushes between a mantle mounted on the moving head and a concave, also called a bowl liner, held in the upper housing. Mantle and concave form the crushing chamber together, both are replaceable liners, and both are changed on a wear interval rather than repaired. This category lists mantle liners, concave liners, upper housing castings and a gyratory concave reference. The photographs show the liner form and the seating ring; liner geometry, seat dimensions and the chamber profile must be confirmed from the crusher model, the cavity configuration and the existing part number before a replacement is quoted. Because the mantle and the concave wear against each other they are normally reviewed as a pair, and the feed gradation decides which cavity profile suits the application.

SELECTION GUIDE

How to Select the Right Part

Four steps are usually enough to confirm a replacement reference.

  1. Identify equipment brand

Start from the machine make and model shown on the machine plate.

  2. Confirm machine model

Match the model and, where possible, the bucket arrangement.

  3. Check the existing part number

Read the reference from the worn part or from the parts book.

  4. Send photo or drawing if unsure

Provide photographs or measurements so the part can be reviewed.

Frequently Asked
Questions

What is the difference between a mantle and a concave liner?

The mantle is the liner fitted on the moving head of the cone crusher; the concave, also called the bowl liner, is the stationary liner held in the upper housing. Together they form the crushing chamber, and both are replaceable consumables rather than repaired parts.

How do I choose the right chamber profile?

Match the cavity to the feed rather than to the product alone. Feed is normally treated as well graded when 90-100 per cent of it passes the closed-side feed opening, with only a small fraction passing the closed-side setting. If the cavity opening is much larger than the top feed size, most crushing happens low in the chamber and the liners wear unevenly.

When should cone crusher liners be changed?

Two practical signals are used. The first is production: a throughput drop of about ten per cent or more points to worn liners. The second is thickness: published guidance suggests changing an evenly worn liner once it reaches roughly 25 mm at the bottom, because at around 16-19 mm it can crack, the backing can break down and the liner can come loose.

Should a new mantle be fitted against a worn concave?

No. Fitting a new component against a worn one changes the profile of the crushing chamber and restricts the feed entering it, which reduces tons per hour. Mantle and concave are normally replaced as a pair, which is also why they are usually quoted together.

What is choke feeding and why does it affect liner life?

Choke feeding keeps the chamber full so material is forced through and air pockets are limited. Feeding off-centre, or letting coarse material collect on one side, concentrates wear, causes ring bounce and produces a worse particle shape, so feed distribution is part of liner life.

Do you supply upper housing castings as well as liners?

Yes. Upper housing castings are listed with the mantle and concave liners in this category. A housing is a structural casting rather than a liner, so fit has to be confirmed from the crusher model together with the existing casting, part number or drawing before it is quoted.
