CATEGORY OVERVIEW
What Are Hammer Crusher Wear Parts?
A hammer crusher reduces material with hammers that swing on pins between the rotor discs, striking the feed against the breaker plates and, in some designs, the grate. The hammers are the main wear part and they wear on the striking edge, so a set is normally replaced as a unit. This category lists hammer heads and further hammer crusher references. The photographs show hammer form, the mounting bore and workshop batches of finished hammers. Hammer weight, bore diameter, pin size and the rotor arrangement must be confirmed from the crusher model or the existing part number, because hammers of the wrong mass unbalance the rotor. Hammer grade follows the duty: impact-heavy feed calls for a work-hardening manganese steel, while abrasive feed is usually served by an alloy or high-chromium grade.

SELECTION GUIDE
How to Select the Right Part
Four steps are usually enough to confirm a replacement reference.
- Identify equipment brand
Start from the machine make and model shown on the machine plate.
- Confirm machine model
Match the model and, where possible, the bucket arrangement.
- Check the existing part number
Read the reference from the worn part or from the parts book.
- Send photo or drawing if unsure
Provide photographs or measurements so the part can be reviewed.

Frequently Asked
Questions
How are hammers mounted in a hammer crusher?
Hammers hang on pins between the rotor discs and swing as the rotor turns, striking the feed against the breaker plates and, in some designs, the grate. Because they swing, they absorb the impact, and they wear mainly on the striking edge.
How do I know when to change hammer heads?
The striking edge rounds off, product size grows and throughput falls. Wear is checked regularly - per shift is the usual practice on hammer crushers - and hammers are replaced as a matched set rather than one at a time, because uneven mass unbalances the rotor.
Why does rotor balance matter?
A hammer crusher rotor turns at production speed, so uneven hammer wear, or a single broken hammer, moves the centre of mass and shows up as vibration. Vibration is the early warning, and continuing to run with an unbalanced rotor puts additional load on the bearings and the shaft.
Can hammers be turned to use a second face?
Many hammer designs can be rotated in position so that the second face becomes the striking edge, which extends the interval before replacement without changing the set. Whether your hammers are reversible depends on the profile, so check the drawing or the existing hammer before planning the change.
Which material is used for hammer heads?
High-manganese steel is used where impact dominates, because it work-hardens under the blows, while alloy and high-chromium grades are used where the feed is abrasive and wear is more gradual. The choice follows the feed and the product size required, not the crusher model alone.
What should an inquiry include?
Send the crusher model, the hammer part number or drawing, and the key dimensions: overall length, bore or pin size and weight where it is known. Hammer mass has to stay within the rotor balance, so a weight figure is more useful than a photograph on its own.
